Woodwind repair is a nuanced art that revitalises instruments, addressing issues from minor adjustments to comprehensive overhauls. Technicians meticulously examine keys, pads, and mechanisms, applying both technical expertise and a discerning ear to optimise each instrument’s tonal qualities.

This craft goes beyond mechanical restoration, serving as a form of preservation, ensuring that woodwind instruments continue to resonate with their melodious potential for future generations. In the hands of a skilled repairer, neglected instruments find renewed voices, ready to embark on their musical journey through time.

  • A bit of a beast entered the workshop this week. Listen carefully for the notes! 😆 Hopefully will be a few more notes once it’s been looked at.
  • House move done - which basically included moving 3 times over July and August.
Apologies for interference in service - should be starting to get back to things now and once fully set up, things should be better than ever!
  • Loving the gorgeous colour on this clarinet.
  • When you’re looking for the bit of cork you put glue on………then realise it’s stuck to your phone 🙈😆
  • Today I got to work on a rare gem - a basset horn.
Perks of the job 😎
  • Best kind of instruments are the bass instruments IMHO
  • Like toasting a marshmallow.
Replacing a saxophone pad before getting stuck into some more oboes. Couple more days to work before packing up for Christmas.
  • Had some fun with this badger today. Never a dull day 😊
